What is your 5-year plan?

Do you ever schedule things on your calendar? The odds of us accomplishing things go way up when we write them down. The pandemic of 2020 has shown many of us that we do not do well without a routine, schedule or plan.
Each year your insurance agent sends out a reminder to sit down and conduct an annual review. Good financial advisors reach out to adjust your portfolio based on your current situation and future desires. You work with all sorts of experts who help you make sure that you are healthy, wealthy and wise long into the future.

Have you sat down with your travel planner to discuss your long-term travel plans? When are those anniversaries and birthdays that end in 0 or 5? Do you have a milestone coming up? When and where is your next family reunion? There are many milestones life events that you can plan for and some that may be a bit of a surprise.
We know when a child or grandchild will graduate from high school or college. If we have been working with our financial planner, we have a good idea of when we will retire. Milestone birthdays and anniversaries are cause for celebration. Weddings are expected, but their timelines can be surprising. Sometimes even sad events can be made to seem better with a trip. A marriage may have ended, and you want to go somewhere to signal a fresh start. A loved one may have passed away and included you in their will. This is a perfect time to visit their hometown or even the country where your ancestors migrated from.

Planning travel can be challenging. If other households or friends are involved budgets, schedules and diverse desires need to be accommodated. Some popular or exotic destinations book much earlier than you may expect – some can book multiple of years in advance. I have worked with clients who have spent more on a special family vacation than I spent on my house. Many large trips can be priced similarly to a new car. Most of us start saving well in advance or pay overtime for these major purchases. We can work together to navigate the maze of options to get you that perfect celebration trip.
