Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Today is the day that we are all a little bit Irish. Last year most of us were in the beginning stages of some sort of lock temporary down and may have had to change the way we celebrated the holiday. Depending on where you are, this year may look a lot like a repeat of 2020 or you may be in a place that looks much more normal. All signs for 2022 are looking in a positive direction so now is a good time to consider some of the top places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Here are my top 5 places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (in no particular order)

#5 Boston Massachusetts

St. PAtrick's Day Boston

Each year Boston hosts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in the world. About a half-million people travel to Boston each year to partake in the festivities! The parade officially began in 1901 but legend says that it started nearly 200 years earlier. Today the parage travels a 3 mile course through South Boston. Be sure to visit to see the floats, dancers, bands, and the Irish Cheer. You won’t find a larger celebration outside of Ireland!

#4 Chicago, Illinois

Chicago - The River Green

Chicago hosts one of the impressive St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in the country. The city dyes the river green and is a spectacle that you don’t want to miss. Be sure to arrive a couple of days early so that you can see the transformation of the river from its normal state to orange and finally to emerald green all as a result of a little Leprechaun Magic and a lot of hard work. Find a spot between Balbo and Monroe Drives to watch the festive parade. After the parade be sure to hit one of the countless local pubs for a pint of green beer. It is Chicago after all.

#3 Savannah, Georgia

Savannah Georgia

Looking for some southern hospitality and warmer weather? Look no further than Savannah Georgia where the nation’s second-largest parade in the nation takes place! Savannah does not just celebrate on March 17th, in fact, the festivities kick-off at the beginning of the month. The biggest part of the year takes place on the weekend closest to the holiday. Be sure to come done to the historic district along the river for nonstop entertainment, music and games. This is a celebration that you don’t want to miss!

#2 Scranton, Pennsylvania

Scranton Pennsylvania

I’ll admit that I picked this one because of my love for “The Office”. This event begins with a 10 A.M. mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral afterward the community lines the streets for one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the Country. For the last 50 years, Scranton has drawn up to 150,000 people to view this small city parade.

#1 New York City, New York

St Patrick's Day Parade New York City

New York City hosts one of the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day parades on the planet! The parade was started by soldiers by Irish soldiers in the British Army in 1762. It has grown from its modest beginnings into one of the biggest celebrations anywhere in the world with 300,000 marches and over 3 million spectators. This is an event that you will never forget.

Bonus! Dublin, Ireland

The Temple Bar - Dublin Island -

When thinking about the quintessential place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Dublin probably comes to mind. The capital city hosts one of the biggest and best celebrations in the country. Most of the action takes place at Dublin’s Temple Bar. The busy riverside neighborhood with its cobbled pedestrian lanes is the perfect backdrop to the carnival-style parade as it weaves its way through the streets.
